Presenting the “Umeshiso Chicken Burrito”, starting from July 20th to September 30th. Well-known Japanese restaurant, Sampi Ryoron and Mexican diner, Guzman y Gomez (GYG), collaborates to create the perfect mix of “Wa” and “Mexican”. This first collaboration is a blend of chicken and a special sour plum sauce with brown rice. It contains a soy sauce base and includes lotus root, green shiso leaves, cheese, fresh tomatoes all wrapped in one tortilla. This was Kasahara’s first time in blending Japanese and Mexican food, but stated with confidence that “it turned out to be better than I ever expected.” This is the first of many “Neo-Mexican” collaborations.
Over the last couple of years, GYG has produced other localized products like the Yuzu Chicken Burrito and Teriyaki Burrito, aiming to attract both Japanese and foreign customers.
